Healing Outreach Ministries International: A Legacy of Faith and Community Support

Healing Outreach Ministries International (HOMI) was founded in 2001 by the late Pastor Benon Kawaala and his wife, Pastor May Kawaala, in the United States of America. With a mission to spread the gospel and uplift communities, HOMI has grown from a single vision to an expansive ministry, impacting lives both spiritually and practically.

After Pastor Ben Kawaala’s passing in 2019, Pastor May Kawaala was encouraged by God to continue the ministry. She has since been working closely with pastors from the various branches of HOMI to ensure the ministry’s growth and community outreach. Under her leadership, HOMI continues to thrive, serving communities in Uganda and beyond.

Current Initiatives and Community Projects

One of the key projects currently underway is the search for land to establish a permanent church building, headquarter offices, and facilities that will benefit the local community. The planned infrastructure includes:

  • Primary & High School for children without parents, providing education to those who lack the support to attend school.
  • Vocational School aimed at empowering youth and widows who have not completed their education by offering practical skills training.
  • Hospital and Water Supply for the local community, addressing critical health and clean water needs.

These ambitious plans are in response to the dire need for educational and vocational opportunities, as well as basic services such as clean water and healthcare in underserved communities. HOMI has a vision to lift up those in need, ensuring that the widows, orphans, and vulnerable youth are supported spiritually, emotionally, and materially.

Church Planting and Ministerial Training

Before his passing, Pastor Benon Kawaala, alongside Pastor May, established HOMI Discipleship School (HDS) and led outreach evangelism teams. They focused on planting churches, both in Uganda and other countries. The first church was planted in Libiira Village, Buyanga Sub County, in the newly created Bugweri District (formerly part of Iganga District). God continues to bless the ministry, as more souls are saved and the gospel spreads across the Lubira Community and beyond.

HOMI remains committed to its foundational mission—training ministers and equipping communities for sustainable growth in faith. The ministry’s outreach extends to providing not only spiritual nourishment but also tangible support for those facing life’s challenges.

Community Support: Prayers and Contributions

The ministry is calling on partners, well-wishers, and community members to join in prayer for the success of their ongoing projects, including the construction of their church, schools, and hospital. HOMI also seeks assistance in addressing immediate needs such as food, shelter, and transportation for the most vulnerable.
